What is luxury resale?

  • Luxury resale is the business of buying and selling pre-owned, luxury goods. This industry not only extends the lifetime of articles, but offers amazing prices for often times coveted, designer pieces.

Where do you ship and how much does shipping cost? 

  • We currently offer daily US shipping to all 50 states. 
  • Shipping costs $25 (Excluding Washington, Hawaii, and Alaska). 
  • Shipping within Washington State costs $15. 
  • For Alaska and Hawaii residents: Please contact our fulfillment team at (206) 635-8745 as rates may vary.

Where do I find my shipping tracking number? 

  • Shipping Tracking Numbers will be emailed to you directly from UPS (NOT THE REFIND). It will be emailed to the address you currently have on file. 

How do you complete your Instagram Live purchase?

  • After the Live Show is completed please text your FIRST and LAST NAME with your Instagram Handle to our Fulfillment number: (206) 635-8745.

How do you Shop Our Instagram Live Show?

How do I resell my items with you?

What items do we accept for consignment? 

  • We accept shoes, clothing, accessories, and bags from classic and contemporary brands that retail for $300 or more. Please note we do not accept damaged or stained goods and the consignor will be liable for the cost of returning damaged goods.
  • Please see our consignment terms or email inventory@therefind.com with any questions.

What is our consignment split percentage for consignor payout? 

  • We work on a sliding scale, starting at a 50/50 payout split.

How do I access/sign up for my consignment portal?

How do I see my items, prices, and what has sold?

  • All information about consignment items and prices can be found in your consignment portal. If you have any questions please contact inventory@therefind.com.

How and when do you get paid? 

  • We pay out our consignors on the 1st of every month. Direct deposits can take up to five business days to show up in your bank account. Please contact info@therefind.com.

Do we buy items outright? 

  • We currently operate under a consignment model and do not purchase items outright. 

Do we offer pricing quotes?

  • We cannot offer any quotes on the spot, over the phone, or upon drop-off. Items will be processed within 48 hours of drop and pricing will be available on your consignment portal.

How do you Shop Our Instagram Live Show?

Can I pick up my item in store?:

  • Yes, purchased items from Live Shows and DMs can be picked up in store within 14 days. If the 14 day window has passed and the items have not been picked up yet, we will automatically charge $15 for in-state shipping or $25 for out-of-state shipping and send it to the address listed on file.

Consignment Terms

THE REFIND: CONSIGNMENT TERMS 

Please note that these terms will not be effective until 01/01/2025.

GUIDELINES FOR ACCEPTED ITEMS

The Refind reserves the right to refuse any items that do not meet the set standards of quality, style, or demand.

  • Right of refusal:

The Refind retains the right to refuse items that do not meet the standards of cleanliness and accepted brands/items listed in these terms.

  • Acceptable items for resale:

Items must retail for at least $300 and meet the criteria for acceptable brands and items below; if the items do not meet these criteria they may be subject to be returned to the consignor at a flat rate of $25 per box at the consignor’s expense.

  • Condition of acceptable items (clean and free of personal items):

All items must be clean, free of stains and repairs (tears, missing buttons, etc.). All pockets and handbags must be checked for personal items and cleaned. Any personal items found will be immediately discarded. Items that do not meet these standards will be returned to consignors at their expense.

  • Handbags without authentication certificates have a mandatory authentication fee:

All handbags will be subject to authentication fees unless a handbag comes with its own authentication certificate. The consignor agrees to pay a flat $15 fee by credit card for handbags that are valued under $1000 (resale value determined by The Refind Closet). For handbags valued above $1000, the consignor will be charged a flat $25 fee.

II. HOW TO DELIVER ITEMS FOR RESALE

  • In-person consignment:

Consignors living in the Seattle Area or visiting are encouraged to bring items in-person to the Refind to determine quality, style, demand and condition. Items not taken will immediately be returned to the consignor.

  • Shipped consignment:

Consignors who live out of state will not be charged to send their goods for consignment to us; they will only be charged a $25 flat fee per box shipped if the items do not meet The Refind’s standards of quality, cleanliness, and acceptable brands/items outlined in these terms. It is encouraged to inspect all items to ensure they meet the above guidelines and acceptable brands/items list below. Items that cannot be accepted for resale will be returned to the consignor, who will be charged at a flat fee of $25 per box.

III. PRICING AND SALES TERMS

  • The Refind retains the right to price and reduce prices on all items at their discretion:

Consignors agree that items will be priced at the Refind’s discretion; the Refind uses extensive market research, market prices, trends, and expertise to determine their pricing.

  • After two weeks, the Refind may reduce prices at their discretion:

The Refind may reduce prices on items that do not sell quickly, typically if after featuring in social media or after 2 weeks of display on the sales floor.

  • Noncompete agreement:

Consignors agree to not consign items on sale with the Refind with other resale platforms such as Poshmark, Ebay, etc.

  • Tax and Shipping:

Consignors agree to a profit split with The Refind on their consigned items excluding sales tax and shipping fees.

  • Consignor/The Refind Split:

The percentage split between the Refind and the consignor may vary and will be determined at The Refind’s discretion depending on luxury resale trends.

  • Payment Timeline:

Payment will be made to the consignor within 31 days of the item’s sale via ACH direct deposit, which may take an additional 3-5 business days depending on the receiving bank.

  • Consignment portal access:

Consignors will be granted access to their account after merchandise has been inventoried and priced.

IV. CONSIGNMENT TIME LIMIT

  • 60 day consignment time limit, 10 day window for reclaiming unsold items:

All merchandise will be accepted for a resale period of 60 days starting from the day the item is entered into our inventory system. Once merchandise has arrived at the Refind, it cannot be returned or reclaimed by the consignor until the end of the 60 day sale window. After 60 days, the consignor must schedule a pick-up time within 10 days to collect their unsold items in-person. If the consignor is not able to pick up items in-person (ex: consignor lives out-of-state), the items will be shipped back at a flat rate of $25 per box, charged to the consignor.

  • Unclaimed items (expired - past 70 day reclaim window):

Unclaimed, unsold items that have passed 70 days since their entry into our inventory system will be considered expired and will either be donated to the Assistance League of Seattle or become store property. The Refind will not communicate when items expire; the consignor is responsible for monitoring when their items expire through their consignor portal and requesting a reclaim pick-up window or shipment within the 70 day limit.

  • Returns:

The Refind has the authority to return items at any time, for any reason to the consignor. Once an item is returned in our system, the consignor will receive an email from inventory@therefind.com with the subject line “RETURN NOTICE”, notifying them that their item(s) is to be returned.

Consignors have 10 days to either pick up their items in store, communicate that they would like their items shipped back for a flat rate of $15 in Washington state or $25 out-of-state, or communicate that they grant permission for The Refind to donate them. If there is no contact within 10 days of initial notification, the item(s) will automatically be donated to The Assistance League of Seattle. A tax receipt is available for donated items upon request.

V. LIABILITY CLAUSE

  • The Refind does not assume responsibility for any theft, damage, or loss to merchandise during the resale period of 60 days, the 10 day return period, or any point after this window.

  • Tops (tees, blouses, sweaters, jumpers, cardigans, etc.)
  • Bottoms (pants, jeans, skirts, etc.)
  • Outerwear (jackets, blazers, coats, puffers, vests, etc.)
  • Formal Wear (suits or sets, evening gowns, dresses, etc. - subject to review by the intake team, dependant on demand)
  • Jewelry (necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, etc.)
  • Accessories (keychains, charms, sunglasses, watches, belts, hats, etc. - certain gift items like pens or sets may be accepted subject to review by the intake team)
  • Bags & Wallets (purses, wallets, clutches, handbags, totes, suitcases, briefcases, backpacks, bucket bags, etc.)
  • Shoes (heels, flats, etc. - we do not accept running shoes unless they are by Hermes, Loewe, Gucci, Chanel, Balenciaga, or other similar price-point brands, subject to review by the intake team)
